There’s no doubt that a skilled actor like Ellen Burstyn could deliver some solid entertainment given her own TV series, though this short-lived mid-eighties production doesn’t really prove it. Why an Oscar-caliber actress would want to become entrenched in yet another faceless sitcom show is anyone’s guess, but she didn’t have to worry about the gig for too long. Megan Mullaly and Elaine Stritch were on hand for support, though I can’t imagine being fifth billed on someone else’s failed sitcom can offer a huge boost to the career.
