The Kids of Degrassi Street was a low-budget Canadian youth drama that was launched in 1982 and can be regarded as the forgotten older brother of the way more popular Degrassi Junior High. Based on the 1979 short Ida Makes a Movie, it starred regular kids and no actual actors. The original cast consisted of Zoe Newman, Dawn Harrison, and Allan Melusi, who were the only ones to appear in both the aforementioned short and the subsequently produced series. Nowadays The Kids of Degrassi Street is only worth mentioning for serving as a career-initiating platform for cutie Rachel Blanchard (Sugar & Spice).
