Glasgow-born beauty Adrienne Corri boasts English and Italian genes that powered her formidable presence for decades on the big screen. After making her movie debut in The Romantic Age (1949), the gorgeous ingénue attracted more than a few esteemed directors. She could be seen in Jean Renoir’s exotic drama The River (1951); David Lean’s Russian-set epic Dr. Zhivago (1965); the Otto Preminger thrillers Bunny Lake Is Missing (1965), Rosebud (1975), and The Human Factor (1979); and Stanley Kubrick’s provocative adaptation of A Clockwork Orange (1971). Even though her part is small, it’s definitely mamorable as the ravishing redhead reveals her full frontal nudity while Malcolm McDowell belts out “Singing in the Rain.” If the controversial scene proves anything, it’s that he is no Gene Kelly and Ms. Corri’s carpet matches the drapery. In addition to appearing in high-profile films, Adrienne also starred in scary B movies, including Devil Girl from Mars (1954), The Tell-Tale Heart (1960), A Study in Terror (1965), Vampire Circus (1972), and Madhouse (1974). Offscreen, the brainy babe penned The Search for Gainsborough (1984) while Mr. Skin was just searching for nudity. Luckily, Adrienne exposed her nip in the costume adventure The Hellfire Club (1961). Alas, the hardworking hottie retired in 1992. She passed away in 2016, leaving behind a lovely legacy. Whether on film (Woman Times Seven, Revenge of the Pink Panther), stage (Come and Go), or on TV (Epilogue to Capricorn, Sword of Freedom, You’re Only Young Twice), Adrienne ensured that audiences’ viewing pleasure wasn’t a passive pastime.
