A sex symbol in Spain, Ágata Lys capitalized on her resemblance to Marilyn Monroe and changed her natural brunette tresses to platinum blonde. After popping up here and there, she catapulted into fame territory after making her mark on the popular TV series Un, dos, tres... responda otra vez in 1972. Though she was only in seven total episodes, it was enough to earn her recognition, and to be cast in 34 films between 1973 and 1978. Witness her hourglass figure as the girl who strips in front of a window in Sex or no sex (1974) (Mr. Skin feels a translation is not necessary for this one). More of her fantastic figure was revealed in the film La nueva Marilyn (1976), aka The New Marilyn, which captured her Monroe-ness. She eventually decided to forgo the blonde-bombshell persona, though, and went with a brunette bombshell one instead, returning to her natural haircolor for La niche de los cien pájaros (1976), aka Night of a Hundred Birds; and Violción fatal (1977), aka Fatal Rape, with close-ups of her pretty pair. When Spanish cinema transitioned from B-movies in mass quantities to more high-brow fare with a slower output, Ágata shifted her career to singing in cabarets and doing more television. She did appear as Duchesse de Longueville in the UK, France, Spain production of The Return of the Musketeers (1989) with Michael York and C. Thomas Howell, and starred on television as Maruja in Vecinos in 1994, in Mamá quiere ser artista in 1997, As Josefina in Puerta con Puerta in 1999, and a Eulalia de la Torre in Amar en tiempos revueltos from 2005-2006. She retired aftward to Costa del Sol, quietly working on her hobby of painting. Ágata passed away at the age of 67, in November 2021.
