Amanda Peterson grew up being called "Mandy" and starring in over 50 commercials as a child. After making her film debut in Annie (1982) and showing up in episodes of Silver Spoons and Father Murphy, she landed the starring role of Squirt Sawyer on the 50's set rock and roll sitcom Boone. That show lasted only one season, but Amanda lasted much longer (though teen boys didn't') when she became a regular fixture on the fantasy list of every young man who had cable back in the ’80s thanks to her role as the popular girl rented by the class nerd in the cable mainstay Can't Buy Me Love (1987). As the cheerleader willing to pretend to date Patrick Dempsey for cash, Cindy Mancini, Amanda was way too young to show her boom booms, no matter how good they looked in a strapless bra. But our patience was awarded soon after, when those massive breasts were revealed during her love scene in The Lawless Land (1988). After playing Sunny Sisk on A Year in the Life, and showing up on Doogie Howser, M.D., Amanda never broke through her original teen audience and eventually retired from the big and small screens, never acting past 23 years old. But before she abandoned Hollywood for good, she left us with the inspiring Posing: Inspired by Three Real Stories (1991), a.k.a. I Posed for Playboy, in which she played one of three women making the decision to, you guessed it, pose for Playboy Magazine. Unfortunately the film is not a documentary, and Amanda never actually posed in the famed nudie mag, although she did have a topless scene the next year, in the straight to video thriller Fatal Charm (1992). Sadly, Amanda left us way too soon, passing away of a morphine overdose in her Colorado home at age 43.
