Dutch treat Anna Karina moved to Paris when she was just eighteen. There, she met legendary designers Coco Chanel and Pierre Cardin who got her into modeling. The sexy brunette then met with French New Wave director Jean-Luc Godard about a cameo in À bout de souffle (1960). Alas, Anna turned down the part when she learned nudity was involved. But the frisky filmmaker got to see her naked anyway when the two married in 1961. As Godard’s spouse and muse, the alluring ingénue starred in several of his films (The Little Soldier, Band of Outsiders, Crazy Pete, Alphaville). In his drama My Life to Live (1962), a bra-clad Anna gives a titillating turn as a prostitute. But not before she won a Silver Bear Award for his musical rom-com A Woman Is a Woman (1961). Yet we’re more impressed with her nude debut in Guy Green’s R-rated flick The Magus (1968). The brain-twister will excite your head when you watch Anna shed her threads to bare her breasts! After divorcing Godard, Ms. Karina (1969) displayed her naked T&A during a skinny-dipping scene in George Cukor’s Justine (1969). Next, the busy babe showed off her comic timing (and nude boobs) in the Italian dramedy Bread and Chocolate (1973). The ’60s icon died in 2019 but will be remembered for her roles on the big and small screens (Dossiers: Danger immédiat, Madame le juge) as well as for her work behind the scenes as a writer (Last Song, Victoria). Au revoir Mademoiselle Karina.
