Anne Reid is a famous actress from England thanks to her role on the hit series Coronation Street (1961). She stayed on the show for a decade before leaving to raise her son, so her character was electrocuted in the bath. Thankfully, her son grew and Anne returned to work. Born on May 28, 1934, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Anne grew up in Redcar. When she was eleven years old, she started attending a boarding school in North Wales called Penrhos College, when her father was working as a foreign correspondent for The Daily Telegraph. A well-traveled gal, Anne visited her parents in India, Tehran, and Beirut in her youth. Once she was all grown up, she headed to London, where she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before working as a stage manager and a repertory theater actress. Americans may remember Anne as a school headmistress from Love Actually (2003), though her scenes with a lesbian lover played by Frances de la Tour only made it to the DVD.
