After spending much of her childhood in Madrid, Aurora’s family relocated to Barcelona after her father was sentenced to death for collaborating with the Second Spanish Republic and then deported 700 kilometers away. After studying at the Instituto del Teatro, she joined Teatro Espanol de Madrid and made her professional acting debut in 1944 with Jacinto Benavente's play La malquerida and later starred in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Richard II among other stage productions. Her film career kicked off with 1948’s Madness of Love and Aurora would go back and forth between film and theatre throughout her career until her death in 2012. One of her most notorious roles came in 1973 when she and fellow Spanish actress Esperanza Roy played sisters named Marta and Verónica who go from humble inn owners to serial killers in A Candle for the Devil.
