Born in Vienna, Austria, as Ursula Ledersteger, Barbara Valentin has been called both “The German Jayne Mansfield” and “The German Marilyn Monroe” after her bold and buxom figure appeared in numerous flicks, sometimes without part of her wardrobe. She appeared in several films helmed by notorious German writer, director, and actor Rainer Werner Fassbinder, including parts as Barbara in Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974), where she’s naked; Marietta Tripelli in Effi Briest (1974); Max’s wife in Fox and His Friends (1975); and Eva in Lili Marleen (1981). In 1972, she has glittering breasts when she played a stripper in the movie Happy End, original title Happy Ending, or How a Little Salvation Army Girl Restored Chicago’s Biggest Criminals into the Arms of Society. For those who don’t speak German, which is the language in which Barbara made the bulk of her movie and television appearances, she did do two English-language films, both UK and Germany collaborations.
