Capucine is more than a tall glass of water — she’s a sizzling cup of capucine-o! The hot ingénue is best known for her comedic roles in The Pink Panther (1963) starring Peter Sellers and What’s New Pussycat? (1965) starring Peter O’Toole. Indeed, Capucine has what it takes to turn any Peter’s head! Born Germaine Hélène Irène Lefebvre, the statuesque stunner was discovered by a photographer at age 17. She soon changed her name and became a fashion model, working for Givenchy where she met lifelong friend Audrey Hepburn. Shortly after, Capucine made her acting debut in the French flick The Eagle with Two Heads (1948) by Jean Cocteau. Throughout her career, she revealed her range in various genres, from the Western Soleil rouge (1971) to the drama My Wonderful Life (1987). In fact, between 1948 and 1990, the international actress appeared in 17 television productions (Hart to Hart; Murder, She Wrote; etc.) and 36 movies (Der Supertyp; Ritratto di borghesia in nero; etc). But Mr. Skin is partial to her part in the comedy North to Alaska (1960). As a burlesque queen, the French fox flaunts her flesh while a dude seduces her with accordion music. Yet we never get to see her squeezebox! After guest-starring on the German crime show Blaues Blut (1990), Capucine committed suicide in Switzerland. Filmmaker Federico Fellini, who directed her in Fellini Satyricon (1969), said “she had a face to launch a thousand ships, but she was born too late.” Alas, Capucine died too soon.
