Dios mío! Carmen Sevilla is muy caliente. In fact, the sizzling señorita was one of Spain’s greatest musical stars during the mid-twentieth century, from Jalisco Sings in Seville (1948) to Nosotros, los decentes (1976). In between, she could be seen on the silver screen (El Techo de cristal, La cera virgen, Beatriz) and on Spanish TV (Mañana serán estrellas, Date un respiro). Whether playing parts on popular programs (Ada Madrina, La viuda blanca) or appearing as herself on various shows (Se acabó la siesta, En directo contigo), Ms. Sevilla was warmly welcomed into everyone’s home — especially when the boob tube babe proved to be the hostess with the mostest (Cine de barrio, Telecupón, ¿Se puede?). Carmen also exposed her range in movies by portraying saints (Mary Magdalene in 1961’s King of Kings) and sinners (the title role in 1950’s The Troublemaker).
