Catherine McClements is a huge success in Australia, and has the awards to prove it, for both her television and film roles. While still earning her degree from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, she took the part of Margaret McGibbon in the mini-series My Brother Tom (1986) and as Sarah Redbridge in the movie The Right Hand Man (1986). Once out of school, she landed the part of Kate Muir in the movie Weekend With Kate(1990), where she not only made her skinematic debut by sharing her bare breast, furry triangle, and pleasing posterior, but the brunette actress took home an AFI Award for Best Actress (that’s the equivalent of an Oscar for us Americans). Proving she could conquer the little screen just as well as the big one, Catherine played the long-running role of Detective Senior Constable Rachel “Goldie” Goldstein in Water Rats from 1996-2000, earning her nominations for AFI Awards for Best Actress not once, but twice, and a Silver Logie win for Most Outstanding Actress. More popular roles on Australia TV include Lorien in The Girl From Tomorrow in 1992, Carmen in The Secret Life of Us from 2001-2002 (another AFI win for the star), Rosie Denton Harfield in CrashBurn in 2003, Kerry Vincent in Rush from 2008-2011, Christine William in Tangle from 2009-2012 (earning her yet another AFI), Genevieve in Sisters in 2017, and Birdie Birnside in Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries from 2019-2021. American audiences may recall seeing her as Ginger in the HBO series The Leftovers with Justin Theroux. This dish never gets cold or old!
