A vision of exquisite refinement and feline sensuality, British actress Cathy Tyson is the daughter of a Black lawyer from Trinidad and a white social worker for England. Born in Kingston-upon-Thames, London, England, Cathy moved to Liverpool, where she joined the Everyman Youth Theatre as a child. Too cool for school, Cathy quit college at seventeen to pursue a career at the Everyman Theatre for adults, and within two years, she graduated to a position with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
