“Catya Sassoon defines the world nubile.” That’s what Rolling Stone said about the model turned actress, and they were right. The daughter of famous hairstyling magnate Vidal Sassoon and actress Beverly Adams, she had all the right genes and dropped out of high school at age 14 to work as an agency-signed model in Manhattan. From there, it was just a short jump to her first acting gig, a role as gang girl Feather in the camp classic Tuff Turf (1985) with Robert Downey Jr. and James Spader, then another in Inside Out (1986) with Elliott Gould. Pop-ups in television followed, in the series Hardball and The Fanelli Boys in 1990, and Out of This World in 1991. She was also the lead singer of an all-girl group called Feline Force, an appropriate name for so many reasons, including the star’s nickname, Cat. With a body built for sin, Catya’s acting career shifted back to feature films, where she shared what she had in such B-movie teasers as Secret Games (1991), which also included her skinematic debut in a topless sunbathing scene (they are not real, but they are spectacular). In Dance With Death (1992), her character Jodie is a stripper with multiple personalities: a dominatrix with a whip and a pseudo Bond-girl covered in gold body paint—both times topless and dancing on a stage for everyone’s viewing pleasure. As Katar in Angelfist (1993), she beats up several guys while bare-breasted, has a sexy little sex scene, and a shower shot where we get our first full-on naked experience (she doesn’t shave bare; hair is important in the Sassoon family). Sadly, Catya's career and life came to an untimely end on New Year's Day 2002.
