Christine Pascal will forever remain one of French cinema's saddest stories. Born in Lyon, Christine first hit the screen in The Clockmaker of St. Paul (1974) but failed to show her working parts. But while she appeared in tons of movies like The Accuser (1977), Faux Fuyants (1983), The Grand Highway (1987) and Le sourire (1994), Christine was far from just a pretty face. Miss Pascal was also a noted writer and director, who didn't just do the typical actress thing and make a short film here and there so magazines will call you multitalented, she wrote and directed feature films like Zanzibar (1989), Le petit prince a dit (1992) and Adultery: A User's Guide (1995). But, Christine wasn't afraid to be seen with her clothes off. She went full frontal in Let Joy Reign Supreme (1974), Des enfants gates (1977) and Train d'enfer (1985). While we've been trained to believe all celebrity actresses are living their best life, for Christine things weren't going so well. She frequently talked about suicide, and opened her first film as a director with a suicide scene. After divorcing her husband, whose name was legitimately Robert Boner, Christine robbed us of future boners when she committed suicide by jumping out of a mental hospital window in 1996. Worse, the psychologist who was supposed to be watching her got sentenced to a year in jail because the French courts found out he was ignoring her talks about killing herself, and didn't seek adequate security to stop her. We're not all about getting hard around here, we acknowledge when people are having a hard time. So if your friend talks about killing themselves, take it seriously. Tell someone who can help. Or if it's you considering it, call the suicide hotline. We can't lose another hottie like Christine Pascal.
