A big stage actress who once won the London Critics Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress, Claire Skinnerhas been mesmerizing audiences for over two decades. Hailing from Hertfordshire, England, the majority of her acting credits have been in her home country, but she has made a dent in Hollywood with a few little films you might recognize, like Sleepy Hollow (1999) with Johnny Depp and Bridget Jones's Diary (2001). Other big-screen adventures included, early in her career, Gloria in the satisfyingly quirky The Rachel Papers (1989) with Ione Sky and James Spader; and Natalie in the award-winning Life is Sweet (1990) and Sandra in the award-winning Naked (1993), both directed and written by Mike Leigh, a seven-time Oscar nominee. Later, she was Jo in You’re Dead (touted as “Pulp Fiction meets Monty Python”) with John Hurt and Rhys Ifans, and Gillian in When Did You Last See Your Father? (2007) with Colin Firth. Claire’s skinematic debut was on TV, playing Jean in the mini-series A Dance to the Music of Time (1997), where she went breasts-out full frontal, with a couple of nice rear shots thrown in for good measure. You can also see her sweet little scones as DI Catherine Tully in the TV movie Second Sight (1999); and as Patricia in Mauvaise passe (1999), aka The Escort; and as Rebecca in the mini-series Perfect Strangers (2001). Oh, yeah, and she’s also starred in the series The Boss as Susan Harvey from 1997-2000, as Clare in Life Begins from 2004-2006, in Outnumbered from 2007-2016 as Sue Brockman; and in the mini-series Sense & Sensibility (2008), Homefront (2012), The One About a Social Worker (2013), Power Monkeys (2016), Next of Kin (2018), Vanity Fair (2018), and The Pale Horse (2020). Phew. Mr. Skin needs a nap; he already knows what he’s going to be dreaming about…
