The Early Life of DeWanda Wise

DeWanda was born and raised near Baltimore, Maryland, but didn’t entertain the idea of acting until she took part in a high school drama production to avoid serving detention. DeWanda ended up graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she trained at the Atlantic Theatre Company Acting School and walked away with a bachelor's of fine arts in Drama and Urban Studies (and a minor in Community-based Theater and Performance) while working a day job at Trader Joe’s to make ends meet. Once her career was moving right along, DeWanda was ready to start stripping down on screen, and she did so for the first time in the 2016 rom-com she produced called How To Tell You’re a Douchebag, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Now she’s set to star opposite Guy Pearce and Bill Pullman in the period drama Killing Faith, but we have faith that this won’t spell the end of her amazing streak of nudity.
