Best remembered as a cleavage-flaunting, ditzy straw top who is seemingly a knockout by accident in Rick Moranis's musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors (1986), game girl Ellen sang and danced her way into the hearts of rack-watchers everywhere. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ellen started performing at a young age. She spent her summers at Cejwin Camps in Port Jervis, where she performed in musical theatre productions. She started her career in the entertainment biz as a nightclub singer and eventually made her way to Broadway. Ellen earned her first starring role in Rachael Lily Rosenbloom (And Don't You Ever Forget It), which had 7 previews in 1973 but closed before its official opening night. Ellen got lucky with her next project, appearing in In the Boom Boom Room at the Off-Broadway Public Theatre. Her reviews caught the attention of a casting director, and she was offered her first onscreen starring role in Next Stop, Greenwich Village (1976), which featured her naked breasts. Over the course of her onscreen career, Greene got used to being the slightly offbeat beauty; she played the supporting tart in such flicks as Talk Radio (1988) and One Fine Day (1996).
