Irene Miracle is her real name, and that's the most normal thing about this talented actress's bizarre career. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Irene is of of Scots-Irish, Russian, French and Osage descent. She made her debut in the Italian thriller L' Ultimo treno della notte (1975), or The Night Train Murders, in which she played a murder victim. The globe-trotting beauty found herself providing sex appeal in other thrillers like La Portiera nuda (1976), which included a miraculous, lingering shower scene. Irene then made a quantum leap in quality in Midnight Express (1978), the hit film that also made Irene a Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture Acting Debut. Of course, Midnight Express was really the American debut of Irene's own golden globes, shown under glass in a fine fantasy sequence. Irene followed that with a lovely turn as a doomed lady in the horror import Inferno (1980) and then kept a low profile with TV appearances. Her career has since been a bizarre mix of low-budget schlock and fascinating indie films such as The Last of Philip Banter (1986). At least her more bizarre choices give us the occasional cheap thrill, such as a gratuitous bathtub scene that gets us watching in Watchers II (1990). Still, it's heartbreaking to see her lovely throat slit by a damn puppet in Puppet Master (1989). In addition to acting, Irene has worked behind the scenes as a producer, a writer, a director, a costume designer, and a makeup artist. If she comes back for another nude scene, well, that would be a Miracle!
