Born on November 16, 1942, in London, England, serious actress Joanna Pettet moved to New York City when she was just sixteen years old. After studying acting under Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and the Lincoln Center, Joanna started her entertainment career on Broadway, appearing in plays such as Take Her, She's Mine; The Chinese Prime Minister; and Poor Richard. Onscreen, she got a major break alongside Candace Bergen, Jessica Walter, and Joan Hackett in The Group (1966), an adaptation of Mary McCarthy's sordid paperback about old college friends. Then she became a sexbomb as "Mata Bond" in the James Bond spoof Casino Royale (1967). This shagalicious role had her vamping it up as the daughter of James Bond and Mata Hari. Playboy quickly featured her in a 1968 pictorial, and she made her skinematic move in the brothel comedy The Best House in London (1969). Sadly, a string of bad films left her spending the '70s in TV movies, along with episodes of The Love Boat (1979) and Fantasy Island (1980). Joanna had a skintastic decade in the 1980s, though. She retired in 1990, but not before showing those non-petite Pettets in the low-budget flick Double Exposure (1982) and the Shakespearean adaptation Othello, el comando negro (1982). Her last appearances were in Murder, She Wrote (1987) and Terror in Paradise (1990). These days, we're not sure what Ms. Pettet has been up to, but we're grateful for all the times when we've been able to admire her sweet Pettits!
