Born in London to a French mother and German father, Jodhi May began acting professionally at the age of 12. Her first credit was a big one: the Barbara Hershey drama A World Apart (1988). Unsurprisingly, she kept the roles rolling with the TV movie Max and Helen (1990), the 1990 miniseries The Gift, the drama feature Eminent Domain (1990), and a 1991 episode of For the Greater Good. In 1992, Jodhi took a career-making turn in The Last of the Mohicans, playing Alice Munro alongside Daniel Day-Lewis's character Hawkeye.
