Karen Lynn Gorney was born in Beverly Hills; her dad, Jay Gorney, is the famous songwriter who penned "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" But Karen was no loose change and took after her mom, an actress and dancer. After enrolling in the High School of Performing Arts in New York and earning her BFA in Acting at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, it was time to make those melons professional, and she got a gig on the popular soap All My Children in 1970. Then came Saturday Night Fever (1977), which changed everything. As the fine young thing on John Travolta's boogie arm, she became the primordial disco queen and showed off some killer gams. But it was an earlier screen performance that exposed all of her dangerous curves. In The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart (1970), Karen took on the sexual revolution with all her weapons bared, from her cute little perky breasts to a patch of flower-child bush. Karen has three names, all right, one for each body part that she gleefully displays! Unfortunately, Ms. Gorney hasn't shown her skin since then. She hasn't acted consistently, either. After Saturday Night Fever, Karen took a 14-year break from the big screen. She returned in 1991's The Hard Way and followed that up with projects like Law & Order and Men in Black (1997). Then she took another break, returning in 2005's Searching for Bobby D. Karen's been much more consistent over the last decade and a half, so here's hoping she'll show at least half a part soon.
