French, but with a German twist, Karine Gambier was an international delight who worked all over Europe starring in both softcore and hardcore films. She was a regular in director Jesús Franco’s adventures (he’s a well-known entity in the sexploitation era of the late ‘70s), starring as Olga in Voodoo Passion (1977), aka Call of the Blonde Goddess; Millicent “Milly” Antonia von Stein in Sexy Sisters (1977), aka The Devilish Sisters; and Karin Levere in Women in Cellblock 9 (1978), aka Tropical Inferno—all places you can see the blonde bombshell fully naked. All three flicks were produced by Switzerland, and Sisters and Passion were in German, with Cellblock in English. Karine was also a favorite of director Claude Bernard-Aubert, also known for his adult films, but usually credited as Burd Tranbaree, appearing in no less than ten of his films, like the X-rated La Rabatteuse (1978), aka The Porn Hooker; Je cris…je jouis (1978) literally translated as I scream…I cum; Hot and Horny (1979); and Les seceuses (1979), aka Young Head Nurses (double entendre probably intended). All of these flicks came out of various countries, but all were in French. In 1980, Karine was no less prolific or admired, starring in six more films (she did 80 total), including Gefangene Frauen (1980) aka Caged Women, directed by Erwin C. Dietrich; and Shared with Strangers, directed by Jean-Claude Roy, another admirer who included the golden starlet in several of his films. Her last film before she retired in her native France was the West Germany and Greece collab European Sex Vacation (1986), shot in both English and French. Now that’s a destination any man would want to visit.
