Born Aikaterini Hadjipateras to Greek parents in New York, this long-revered actress of stage and screen studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she still directs student productions. A highly physical performer, she’s known for playing high-profile Shakespearean roles usually played by men, such as King Lear, Puck, and Richard III. She made her film and TV debuts in the early 90s, and is probably best recognized for her work in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Les Misérables (2019), The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021), and Poor Things (2023). 2024 was a banner year for the British-American - she appeared in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie, Netflix’s Black Doves, and the horror thriller The Front Room.
