Many actresses who dabble in singing or direct an episode of the sitcom they've starred on for a decade get deemed "multitalented." But the artistic abilities of Lonette McKee are so far above the pretenders, she truly stands alone. As a child in Detroit, Lonette was deemed a musical prodigy and recorded her first R & B hit at fourteen. After spending years on The Wacky World of Jonathan Winters as one of The Soul Sisters, she made her film debut at 22 alongside Irene Cara in the Harlem girl group musical drama Sparkle (1976). Her nude debut would come soon after, when she flashed her rack for legendary jokemaker Richard Pryor in Which Way is Up? (1977). Hint: look down, it's the way your thing will suddenly be pointing. Fans likely know her better as paralegal Angela Drake in another Pryor comedy, Brewster's Millions (1985). You'll want to spend some time checking out the next time Lonette brightened our day, when she went topless while hugging Carl Weathers in Dangerous Passion (1990). A particular favorite at Mr. Skin is Lonette's most explicit sex scene, which involved rolling around in bed nekkid with Wesley Snipes in Spike Lee's tale of interracial dalliance, Jungle Fever (1991). Pirate it if you have to, when it comes to Lonette we say by any means necessary. Speaking of which, this dark-haired doll showed up in another Lee movie, as the revolutionary rabble-rouser's mom in Malcom X (1992) soon after. More joints from Lonette included He Got Game (1998), and She Hate Me (2004). In addition to appearing in The Game and Against The Jab (2015), Lonette sang a song on the soundtrack of The Craft: Legacy (2020), and wrote, directed and composed the 2010 flick Dream Street. At every turn, Lonette McKee gets our engine going!
