In Mr. Skin's estimation, the only thing better than a skin-ful blonde is a skin-ful blonde from California. A killer California blonde who reportedly sports a 42D chest, Lorna Maitland was discovered by that legendary filmmaker whose body of work boasts the most cantilevered, casaba-cavorting of casts, Russ Meyer. In 1964 he created a vehicle for said devastating discovery, the eponymously titled Lorna, which found his lusty leading lady carousing about topless for the better part of ninety minutes, eagerly engaging in all manner of erotic encounters while her husband works at the local salt mines. Lovers of big, bouncing, bodacious breasts made the film an underground smash, which was undoubtedly the impetus for Lorna's subsequent appearances in two more works by the master, Mudhoney (1965) and the succulently structured stripper documentary Mondo Topless (1966). Lorna gave it all she's got (and she's got it!!!) in a pair of other non-Meyer projects, Hot Thrills and Warm Chills (1967) and Hip, Hot & 21 (1967), before tucking in her wayward wonders and disappearing from the screen altogether. We at Skin Central have a soft spot in our hearts (and in our pants) when seemingly promising actresses with skin-tastic tendencies disappear from showbiz. We don't understand this peculiar phenomenon, especially when the lusty ladies weren't given long enough to let their flesh wings spread. Nevertheless, we'll always be happy for the scant material we got from Lorna. Something is better than nothing, Mr. Skin has always said after a long and fraught bate session.
