Without Trinidad, the world wouldn’t have the Steelpan drum. And without Trinidadian-American actress Lorraine Toussaint, we would’nt be beating steel in our pants! As you can see by her bulging resume (and your bulging trousers), the hardworking hottie has been steaming up the big and small screens for decades. After attending Juilliard, the ebony ingénue made her debut in the TV Movie The Face of Rage (1983). Since then, she’s appeared in Hudson Hawk (1991) and Dangerous Minds (1995) as well as Ava DuVernay’s Middle of Nowhere (2012) and Selma (2014) which garnered Lorraine critical acclaim and a Black Film Critics Circle Award! Plucky performances in the horror flick Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) and the feminist biopic The Glorias (2020) followed. Meanwhile, on the boob tube, Ms. Toussaint co-starred in NBC’s crime series Crossing Jordan (2002-2003), the ABC fantasy Forever (2014-2015), Fox’s dramedy Rosewood (2015-2017) and AMC’s drama Into the Badlands (2018-2019). But, here at Skin Central, we’re partial to Lorraine’s part in the Netflix hit Orange is the New Black (2014) since it marks her nude debut! As Yvonne “Vee” Parker, the captivating cougar revealed her rack while in the sack with a young dude. No wonder she won a Critics’ Choice Television Award, Essence Black Women in Hollywood Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
