Funny girl Maria Bamford was born to a family of intellectuals, with her father being a Navy doctor and her mom a therapist. Although she was born in California she spent several years as a child in Minnesota, and even went to college in Scotland. With her quality education and family of intellectuals as influences, she instead chose comedy as a profession, starting her stand up career at the age of 19.
