Growing up as a wholesome-looking, mid-American beauty, Mary Beth McDonough was perfect for a part in Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971). The show was so full of homegrown warm and fuzzy appeal that it spawned the long-running TV series The Waltons (1972).
