Maybe it’s because she’s packing curves and protrusions sufficient to cow any man and bully any broad, but the stage-trained actress Mary McDonnell projects a core confidence that has allowed her to be the only woman in cinema to portray both the first lady in Independence Day (1996), and the president on Battlestar Galactica (2004). Mary grew up in Ithica, New York, before honing her acting skills at the Long Warf Theater in New Haven, Connecticut.
