The lovely Neela Dey is an Australian actress who had a short and sweet career lasting from 1979 to 1992, with only eight total credits randomly spaced throughout the years—all in her native country Down Under. The dark-haired hottie made her debut as a Pakistani woman at the start of the long-running TV series Cop Shopin 1979 (it ran through 1984), then took on the role of Junie Morosi in the historic mini-series The Dismissal(1983). Nubile Neela had only one role in 1984, that of a migrant teacher in the big-screen Australian film My First Wife, which won three and was nominated for four Australian Film Institute Awards, the precursor to the AACTA awards, and the equivalent of the US’s Academy Awards. The star’s next role was important for two reasons. First, Neela met the film’s director and screenplay author, Tim Burstall, and married him; the duo was together for five years before the big D (divorce, the big D is divorce). Second, Neela plays Menyan, a member of a tribe that does not engage in such trivial things as shirts; she’s pretty much topless throughout the film, save for a little smeared paint here and there. She grabbed the role of Karpal Singh’s assistant in the Australia and US collab movie Dadah is Death (1988), aka A Long Way from Home, starring Julie Christie and Sarah Jessica Parker; and one as a yoga instructor in Two Brothers Running (1988). Neela’s last two on-screen roles were as Christine in the mini-series Flair (1990) starring Fall Guy American hottie Heather Thomas, and as a receptionist in the TV series Embassy in 1992.
