Nina Hartley came up with her stage name while stripping in San Francisco. The future porno hall-of-famer liked "Nina" because the Japanese tourists who were shoving dollars in her G-string had no problems pronouncing it. We're not joking. "Hartley" was chosen in homage to Mariette Hartley of the Polaroid commercials costarring James Garner. Now she is more famous than both small screen icons...combined!
