The cousin of football legend (and two-headed thing) Rosie Grier, moviedom's all-time A-list queen Pam Grier appropriately debuted in Russ Meyer's masterwork Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970), where her jumbolicious chocolate milk bombs fit right in. She next appeared in a series of classic women-in-prison films that were shot in the Philippines, earning a contract with legendary drive-in studio American International Pictures. While her time making movies about serving hard times was over, her time making us hard was not. Pam starred in an array of the most amazing, intense, and outrageous films of the '70s, specializing in the blaxploitation genre, where she became the screen's first female action star, as well as the only action star who gets Mr Skin really excited by almost never failing to get naked. Among her milestones are Coffy (1973), where she plays a violent vigilante hunting a drug dealer. We like our women like we like our coffee, looking like Pam Grier! She's likely most famous for her role as the brown and foxy Foxy Brown (1974), but she also starred in Sheba, Baby (1975), and Friday Foster (1975). After blaxploitation petered out, Pam was a regular on TV's Miami Vice in the '80s and then returned to urban rump-stomping opposite Steven Seagal in Above the Law (1988) and in the blaxploitation throw-back Original Gangstas (1993). Superfan Quentin Tarantino wanted to cast Pam in his film Pulp Fiction (1994) but instead reworked Jackie Brown (1997) into both a tribute and comeback vehicle for this foxiest of all mamas. She re-teamed with John Carpenter in Ghosts of Mars (2001), then acted alongside Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in the romantic comedy Larry Crowne (2011). In Poms (2019), Grier shows she can still get our testes tumbling by showing off her legs in a short cheerleader's skirt, even if we never get a peek at her pom poms. These days, Pam is starring on the family friendly ABC sitcom Bless This Mess, but even though she's been pretty tame on the nudity front, a look back at her seventies sexiness and bless whoever cleans the mess we make in our pants.
