She may be an actress with only one film role to her name but it’s a doozy - we Kidd you not! Rae is known by cinema scholars and fans of naked people alike as the star of the controversial nudist film The Unashamed from 1938. Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, Rae’s heritage has been widely speculated, with the starlet claiming to be a descendant of the Scottish pirate William Kidd. In The Unashamed, she plays a woman with “dark-skinned features” who is hopelessly in love with her hypochondriac boss. She manages to get him into the nudist colony she’s a member of for some R&R - and so he can see her naked and fall in love with her, which he seems to do until a beautiful blonde heiress also shows up in the buff and takes his attention away from Rae. The film is filled with Rae’s beguiling boobs and buns, as well as many others. She would even go on to marry a production assistant and photographer who plays the nude ventriloquist in the movie’s musical number, but they would divorce in 1952 after having four children. Rae’s ravishing body would never be seen again on screen and she would pass away on April 2nd, 1962 in Salinas California of a recurrent meningioma brain tumor.
