Ruby Porat Shoval is an actress and a writer, and those two worlds meet in the French romance Turn Left at the End of the World (2004), in which she cowrote the screenplay and is credited in front of the cameras as well. The story concerns a family from India moving to a desert neighborhood in Southern Israel in the 1960s, and the family’s eldest daughter gets into a romance with a local French—yes!—girl. Immigration, prejudice and lesbianism? We’re in. And Ruby shows off her chest jewels? You had us at chest. This is her only screenwriting credit, but with credentials such as these we’d like to see more.
