Posterity's images of swinging '60s London have largely been subsumed by the goofy metropolitan mugging of Mike Meyers and his Austin Powers persona, but in the real-time real world of that fabulous and frivolous decade, no face or figure gave The Beatles a better run for their money as pop ambassadors of English chic as did the big-eyed, pencil-thighed über-waif Twiggy. Whether photographed cocking her hip in a Saville Row mini-dress upon the cover of Vogue or snapped while cavorting along Carnaby Street in the company of British Invasion royalty or even while in a pose of curtsying to meet the Queen, Twiggy couldn't help but seem to be thinner and richer than everyone else in the picture. Born in Neasden, Middlesex, England, Twiggy started modeling when she was just a teen, and she soon became an international sensation. Eventually, the androgynous model made her way to the film world, appearing in works such as The Boy Friend (1971), W (1974), There Goes the Bride (1979), The Doctor and the Devils (1985), The Little Match Girl (1986), The Diamond Trap (1988), Something Borrowed, Something Blue (1997), Edge of Seventeen (1998), and Brand New World (1998), which includes a lesbian kiss. But Twiggy really caught Mr. Skin's attention with her work in the horror film Body Bags (1993), in which Twiggy bares and bare bum while banging Mark Hamill. That's the only nudity she gave us over the course of her acting and modeling career, but we'll gladly take it. Twiggy? More like horny!
