The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln returns to TV as John, a husband and father living in London whose life changes when he witnesses a man violently beating a woman in the park. Not only does John not step in and help, he runs away with his son, but completely forgets to grab his daughter. His fearful response to the situation leaves him with crushing guilt, so much so he ends up moving his kids and successful chef wife Fiona (Indira Varma) out of the city and into the titular Scottish Village. Their new neighbors are local vicar Rebecca (Eve Myles) and her husband Tommy (Ewan Bremner). As Tommy welcomes John into his friend group, the two become buds until John starts to suspect that the Bible-thumping, serial killer-obsessed Tommy might be more dangerous than he first realized. Things between John and Fiona also start on a downward spiral, to the point where Indira trying to give him a blowjob doesn’t do it for him.
