An orphaned prince dedicates his life to avenging his royal father’s brutal murder in the sword-and-sorcery epic Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King (2004). Benno Furmann stars as the prodigal son who hones his sword skills in an effort to slay the killer of kings. Uli Edel’s sweeping fairy tale tosses Furmann into a number of dicey situations, showdowns with a fire-breathing dragon, a horde of treasure-mongers, and a troublesome piece of cursed jewelry. For this reason, it’s a relief when the knightly hero gets to unwind by shagging a Teutonic princess played by Kristanna Loken.
