Jean-Jacques Renau or Reno (Jack Kilmer) to his friends is a gunslinger looking to open a saloon and build a quiet life with his pregnant wife Vegas (Camille Collard) in the post-Civil War western territory. On their way out west, their stagecoach is attacked by a gang of robbers led by Ed (Forrest Wilder), who’s killed by Reno in self defense. That doesn’t matter to Clarence Bishop (Stephen Dorff) though, who’s the “mayor” of the nearby town they stop in and, coincidentally, Ed’s brother. Reno loses his trigger fingers and is left for dead while The Mayor takes his wife hostage, but Reno’s found by an Apache named Mahto (No Brings Plenty) who uses Native American magic to revive him and restore his ability to shoot.
