Somehow, between all of his true crime and over-the-top dramatic horror, Ryan Murphy has found time to create a medical procedural set on a luxury cruise ship. Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) climbs aboard The Odyssey to work under Don Johnson’s Captain Massey. Max has an insanely impressive pedigree: top of his class at Yale, four years in the Peace Corps, awarded a prize for humanitarianism from the UN, and served on the pediatric board at Johns Hopkins. Is this man real? Well, maybe not, as there’s a Lost-ish theory floating around that Max - who revealed he was the first person in the US to contract Covid-19 while working at a hospital in Connecticut - is actually dead/dying and this is all some kind of Purgatory fever dream. But if it is, at least it’s got Phillipa Soo sporting a bikini top as Nurse Practitioner Avery Morgan and Andrea Muñoz dressed as a Playboy Bunny. If it is a dream, may we never wake up!
