Farinelli (1994) is a musical bio of the title character, the artistic name of Carlo Broschi, a young singer in Handel’s time. He was castrated in his childhood in order to preserve his voice. Ouch. Despite this, he gains fame and riches as an opera singer. Oddly, even though his equipment was null and void below the waist, the ladies flocked to hear these castrated singers.
