The Smiths (British family, not the indie rock band) are on their way to the small Swedish island of Svalta for a much-needed vacation. Richard (Nick Frost), his wife Susan (Aisling Bea), and their two teenage children Jessie (Maisie Ayres) and Sam (Sebastian Croft) start to sense they are less than welcome even though they are primed to take part in the upcoming Karantan festival, which is the annual celebration of their liberation from a British quarantine that resulted in starvation and cannibalism. Things take an even more sinister turn when it appears that a serial killer is loose on the island, but the family is determined to enjoy themselves, just like we are determined to enjoy Maisie stripped down to her bra in a duo of scenes, even when she’s covered in blood (not hers).
