Roger Moore takes a break from 007 duty to play the manager of a lucrative mine in the exotic adventure Gold (1974). When Rod Slater (Moore) gets wind of a nefarious plot to flood the caves with water from an underground reservoir, he fights like mad to protect his loyal workers. Ray Milland and John Gielgud are just a few of the top-tier actors who signed on for Peter R. Hunt’s two-fisted adaptation of Wilbur Smith’s novel. Fortunately Hunt keeps it from becoming a total testosterone fest by finding a niche role for Susannah York, a blonde Brit who looks pretty scrumptious climbing out of a warm bath.
