Based on Kate Chopin’s 1899 proto-feminist novel The Awakening, Grand Isle (1991) stars Kelly McGillis as Edna Pontellier, a married woman whose summer romance with Robert Lebrun (Adrian Pasdar) at a seaside resort leads to her self-discovery. You’ll discover something in your pants when you see Ms. McGillis’s mounds, muff, and mudflaps a she goes swimming. They could have called this one “Gland Isle!”
