Rowan is an aspiring musician hoping to get discovered while working as a barista in the lobby cafe of a major record label. But his big break hasn’t happened yet and he’s not raking it in, so he embarks on a search to find someone to rent out his spare room. Enter Mag (Jane de Wet), the titular self-proclaimed “hag”. She and Rowan were classmates together and even dated a bit before Rowan came out. Wanting to reconnect, Mag moves in and almost immediately makes things weird, crossing boundaries, inserting herself into Rowan’s life, and developing a jealous obsession that turns toxic and destructive.
