In the German melodrama Himmel über Australien (2) (2006), a biologist is floored by the revelation that her father’s fate might not be as cut and dry as she suspected. Elena Lorentz (Sophie Schütt) has always believed that her father perished in a fiery airplane crash, but some letters and postcards discovered following her mother’s death convince her that he’s alive and well in the Australian outback. Elena decides to travel Down Under to confirm her suspicions, and she soon discovers that these new revelations are just the beginning.
