A married woman’s wandering eye settles on the wrong man in the German melodrama Ich liebe den Mann meiner Tochter (1995). When Julia (Gudrun Landgrebe) meets the dashing young Michael (Thomas Kretschmann), she’s tempted away from her husband, Stefan (Friedrich von Thun). But when she discovers that Michael’s romantically involved with her own daughter (Muriel Baumeister), Julia can’t get away fast enough. Kretschmann’s situation is no doubt dysfunctional, but it’s also pretty sweet--the mother-daughter team of Baumeister and Landgrebe make a convincing (and naked) case that sex transcends generations.
