An icy, beautiful, and powerful career woman wields her influence and her will in the Parisian artistic society, but her workplace savvy gains her no advantage in nursing her terminally ill father toward death. Likewise, the brilliant concert violinist with whom she shared seven years of her life finds his talent powerless to keep him from being diagnosed and institutionalized as a raving lunatic. These two would seem to be safely swaddled in their individual and isolated miseries, but wait. The unconditional devotion of a single young boy connects a pair of disparate and desperate characters at the soul.
