If you need to be convinced that artists were the rock stars of the early 20th century, then look no further than La femme qui pleure au chapeau rouge (The Weeping Woman in the Red Hat) (2010). Amira Casar stars as Dora Maar, an independent and intelligent woman working as a photographer in 1930s France. In the course of her work, she meets the famous painter Pablo Picasso (Thierry Frémont) and the two begin a passionate affair. There are a couple of problems, though: Pablo already has a wife. And a mistress. And babies by both of them. But why worry about that when Judith Davis and Paula Dravigny have bared their baby-feeders for an al fresco soiree in the sun?
