At the start, we meet Katherine (Famke Janssen) after being involved in foul play that has left her with the titular syndrome - she is “locked in” to her body, unable to speak or move. Anna Friel plays the nurse who attempts to unravel he mystery of her condition, which may or may not have something to do with her adopted daughter Lina (Rose Williams). Lina had taken over the role of caregiver to Katherine’s sick son, eventually agreeing to marry him and resolving herself to a life of subserviency. That is, until she starts having an affair with the family doctor (Alex Hassell). At one point the two end up doing it outside in the rain on a pile of hay. Rose slips her panties off under her skirt, and undoes her bra, giving us a view of her bare back but not much else. If only the film wasn’t so locked in to not showing nudity!
